A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A 2CD SET Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol', first published in 1842, has been credited with having almost invented the modern Christmas, and is as popular now as it was when it first appeared nearly two hundred years ago. Its central character, Ebenezer Scrooge, starts out as a mean, miserly, grasping man of business. But one Christmas Eve he is visited by three Ghosts, of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and as they reveal to him the reality of the world, the poverty and pain endured by so many - and the joy which a good life can bring - he realizes how he must change for ever. And he does. Michael gave his first reading of A Christmas Carol for a fundraising performance for the Atlantic Theatre Festival in 1996. Since that time he has performed it many times, in Nova Scotia but also on tour in the UK. Many families treasure this recording, and play it every year as one of their Christmas rituals. $ 20.00 plus shipping&handling
