​​We are saddened by the passing of our dear author Michael Bawtree. On Saturday, August 24, 2024, Michael Bawtree died peacefully in his sleep, the day before his 87th birthday. The full obituary can be found here.

​A celebration of life will take place which will coincide with the release of the final volume of Michael's memoirs.

The dramatic story, told in 'free-cantering' verse, of the capture of Pegasus and Horsa Bridges during the opening minutes of D-Day, 1944.

This book is a dramatised account of the critical operation to capture Pegasus Bridge by Allied forces in 1944, in the opening stages of D-Day. It is based on an earlier show and DVD presentation by the same author, with original words and music that set the event within the history of previous cross-Channel campaigns. This account draws on the memories of some of those involved and the author's own experience of serving in the same regiment.

Profits from the sale of this work have always gone to the support of veterans. For this Canadian edition, as an active member of his local Royal Canadian Legion Branch #74 in Wolfville, NS, Michael has donated all net proceeds to the Branch's '75' Fund​, which is dedicated to the renovation of the century-old Wolfville Legion building. The renovations will make the building fully wheelchair-accessible and provide new spaces for resources and workshops for veterans, to help them live happy and productive lives.

Like No Other Press was first established in 2013 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, in order to publish a small collection of poems titled "Remembering Colin." They were written in memory of the great voice and speech teacher Colin Bernhardt, who used to encourage his students with the injunction: "Be like no other!"

In 2015, Michael Bawtree suggested that Like No Other Press take on the Canadian publication of his first volume of memoirs, "As Far As I Remember." His second volume, "The Best Fooling", was added to the list August 26, 2017. In December 2021, he has published the book of his stage production, The Pegasus Bridge Show, with which he toured the U.K., raising funds for veterans.

Like No Other Press has taken on the promotion and sale of other productions of Michael Bawtree and Colin Bernhardt, in order to make them more accessible. They include Colin's "So To Speak" (published by Ekstasis Editions 2001), as well as two 2-CD sets of Michael's readings.
